Fire Door Maintenance & Inspection Services
As a UK manufacturer with nearly 30 years of experience, Gerda Security provides fire door maintenance and replacement services — all of which are backed by third-party certification and our own comprehensive test evidence.
Fire door compliance is a legal requirement, not just a recommendation. Under the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, responsible persons for multi-occupied residential buildings over 11m are required to carry out quarterly checks of fire doors in common parts and annual checks of flat entrance fire doors. Gerda helps you meet these obligations with confidence. Because our doorsets are engineered with interdependent components, we ensure every, repair, or replacement uses the exact parts specified in the original design — protecting both performance and your certification.

Key Feature
We design, develop and extensively test for optimum performance. Doorsets are engineered with interdependent components, so the parts used in the design must also be used in maintenance.
Using the wrong component or intumescent during maintenance can compromise a doorset’s fire resistance. When it comes to fire safety, the stakes are too high to risk non-matched parts. That’s why we supply matched fire door replacement kits containing the exact component, its intumescent and the correct fixings, so your doorset continues to perform exactly as tested.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the legal requirements for fire door maintenance in the UK?
Under the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, responsible persons for multi-occupied residential buildings over 11m in height are legally required to carry out quarterly checks of all fire doors in common parts, including self-closing devices, and annual checks of all flat entrance doors leading onto common parts. This came into force in January 2023 following the Grenfell Tower Inquiry Phase 1 Report.
For buildings under 11m, regular inspection and maintenance of fire doors remains a duty under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Records of all checks must be kept as part of your building safety obligations.
What should I look for when choosing between fire door maintenance companies?
The most important factor is whether the company maintaining your fire doors has the correct certification and technical knowledge for the specific doorsets installed. Look for third-party certified maintenance, clear documentation of all works carried out, and evidence that replacement parts used are compatible with the original doorset specification — using the wrong components or intumescents can compromise fire resistance.
A manufacturer who maintains their own products offers the strongest assurance, as they hold the original design, test evidence and certification. You should also check that the company can provide a full audit trail to support your building safety records.
Where can I see Gerda fire doorsets and learn about maintenance requirements?
Gerda fire doorsets can be viewed at our Centre of Training & Innovation, where we host product presentations, practical demonstrations and training courses. The centre is designed for building managers, contractors, architects, and responsible persons who want to understand both our product ranges and the maintenance requirements associated with them.
You can also request an on-site or remote product presentation. Just get in touch to arrange.
Do you offer CPD presentations?
Yes. We offer a wide range of third-party-certified CPD presentations covering fire safety legislation and best-practice maintenance. These are suitable for building managers, responsible persons, contractors and facilities teams, and can be delivered standalone or linked to our practical training courses at the Centre of Training & Innovation. All presentations are regularly updated to reflect the latest legislative requirements. Please get in touch to find out what’s available and to book a session.
How do I go about providing an Emergency Response Pack?
An Emergency Response Pack (ERP) is a document that provides the fire and rescue service with key information about a building to support their response in an emergency. Under Regulation 6 of the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, responsible persons for multi-occupied residential buildings over 11m must provide an ERP to their local fire and rescue service and keep it updated annually. It should include floor plans, details of fire safety measures and information on any residents who may need assistance evacuating. Gerda offers a complete ERP Plan Service, including annual audit and maintenance, developed in collaboration with the FIA and NFCC — in line with the ERP Code of Practice.
